1st & Goal board game to go digital via Kickstarter

US firm R&R Games has started a Kickstarter campaign to launch a digital version of its best-selling football board game, 1st & Goal.

The board game pits two football teams in a classic gridiron match where coaches call plays using cards and yardage is gained or lost by the roll of the dice.

This Kickstarter campaign, running until April 25th, aims to raise $25,000 to fund development of the 1st & Goal Digital game. The game aims to build an online community where players can compete in season and bracket playoff matches and join online tournaments.

“1st & Goal has been a huge hit with gamers and football fans around the world, and it has always been our goal to connect everyone with an online version of the game,” said Frank DiLorenzo, president of R&R Games.

“Getting our backers in the Kickstarter community involved in the creative process that'll extend and enhance their play experience is a win-win."

Players will be able to create and customise their own teams by choosing the hometown, name, logo and colors, then go head to head calling plays and driving down the field to victory.

Reward levels include a copy of the finished digital version, the 1st & Goal board game, and more.
