Kids@Play has welcomed a new general manager of UK and Ireland in the form of the sports nutrition sector innovator, Ben Smith.

Smith returns to the toy industry following a four-year period working in the sports field with a particular highlight being the successful launch of the Mars, Snickers and Bounty protein bars.

The multi-channel strategy secured sales in excess of 3,000,000 units in the first year. Smith has previously held national account positions with Vivid, Re:Creation and Rainbow Designs.

Nathaniel Southworth, Kids@Play managing director, said: “Kids@Play is developing its ranges and broadening its account base. As we grow we are mindful we have to support this growth with improvements to our levels of customer service.

“Ben will take on a broader role than account management and we are excited to harness his experience from both inside and outside the toy industry. Ben is a local resident to Chepstow which also makes it a perfect geographical fit. He is very well respected across the industry and we now have a trio of former Vivid team members.”

Smith added: “What the team has achieved in the last six months is staggering and the plans for 2019 will come as no surprise to people who know Nat. It is fantastic that this exciting company is located in Chepstow and I can run, ride or walk to the office.

“I am really looking forward to helping Nat and the rest of the team achieve the potential of Kids@Play. I look forward to meeting everyone at the forthcoming trade events - it’s great to be back.”
