Cornwall-based Worlds Apart has beat competition from more than 350 businesses in the South West to become a regional finalist in HSBC Global Connections.

The prize-fund competition has been set up by HSBC to find ambitious UK businesses with ‘clear strategies for dynamic growth’ that are focused on taking their products to new international markets.

HSBC has earmarked £60 million in funding across ten different UK regions, meaning Worlds Apart could win investment of £6 million if picked as regional winner for the South West. HSBC is also offering cash rewards of up to £120,00.

Worlds Apart will travel to the Far East early next year, the company will pitch their strategies against others to become first a regional, and then perhaps a national winner during next year, with significant cash prizes, substantial lending and extensive national publicity.

"The timing of this achievement could not be better", said Simon Birchenough, a co-Founder at Worlds Apart.

"As a product design & development company in the kids' lifestyle & leisure sector, export is an essential and growing part of our strategy for growth and taking part in this competition will undoubtedly accelerate this process".
