Wall-E toys arrive

First ever robotic toys from Disney as movie tie-in range rolls out.

Disney Consumer Products has launched the toy line for the eagerly awaited Disney/Pixar film Wall-E, which is due to hit UK cinemas on July 18th.

For the first time, the collection will include robotic products from Thinkway Toys (distributed by Geemac), plus a further selection from Vivid Imaginations.

At the forefront of the range is a collection of hi-tech, robotic toys based on the Wall-E and EVE characters. The iDance Wall-E (£39.99) is complete with an audio in-jack working with any iPod or MP3 player to play tunes through its chest speaker, while it also features light-up eyes and sound activation functionality.

Meanwhile, the U-Command Wall-E (£19.99) is a remote control robot that can be programmed with thousands of different movement combinations. It can perform 360-degree turns, move in every direction and do a figure of eight.

There is also a collection of additional robots, action figures, playsets, collectables and plush.

The Interactive Wall-E and Interactive EVE (£29.99) feature voice and light-up functionality, with motorised head and arm movements.

Both are fully poseable and can interact with each other, allowing users to recreate moments from the film.

The BnL Truck Electronic Playset recreates Wall-E's home from the movie and includes press button features that activate a selection of character voices and phrases.

There are also Magnetic Construct-a-Bots, which allow users to piece together their own Wall-E and EVE, while a series of Collectable Movie Moments figurines capture the characters in scenes from the film.

"The robotic toys at the forefront of the new Wall-E range bring Disney's latest characters and their personalities to life through advanced movement and programming that will entertain and excite fans of the movie," said Simon Price, director, UK toys and consumer electronics, DCP.

DCP's range of Wall-E products also includes interactive and activity books, a 2009 annual, bedroom sets, a display plate and bowl, lunchbags, beauty products, bubblebath and flashlights, plus apparel, accessories, bags and footwear.
