Gerbie Quilter has been named as the first ever ToyNews Woman of the Year.
Vivid Imaginations' sales director picked up the accolade at a special event held at BAFTA yesterday (Thursday, July 24th).
Over 100 industry execs packed into the central London venue to celebrate the female role models in the toy business and enjoy an afternoon of networking.
The event was organised in association with the UK chapter of the Women in Toys body and was sponsored by Gameplan Europe, SuperAwesome, Norton & Co and Fundamentally Children, the new home of The Good Toy Guide.
Female - and male - execs from companies including A Girl for All Time, Arklu, Bandai, BTHA, Carte Blanche, Cartamundi, Circus, Coiledspring Games, Christy by Design, Flair, Generation Media, Golden Bear, Goldfish & Bison, Hy-Pro, Jumbo Games, KDUK, Kilogrammedia, LEGO, LeapFrog, MGA, Mattel, Mega Brands, miPR, Makielab, NPD, Oxford Games, Paper Projects, Playtime PR, Rainbow Designs, Schleich, Shop Direct, Tomy, Vivid Imaginations, VTech, Walt Disney Company, Weird Lime and more, all attended.
"We are absolutely delighted with the reaction our first ToyNews Women of the Year event has had," said Lisa Carter, publisher of ToyNews. "Gerbie was a more than worthy winner and completely epitomises just what we were trying to highlight when we first launched our search for the top women in the UK toy business.
"Gerbie received the largest number of nominations by far, with many praising her drive, ambition, dedication to Vivid and her general inspirational attitude to her role."
Quilter added: “I’m very honoured and I’m shocked. I think the event is a brilliant idea and I hope it’s something that continues for years to come.
"It’s great for women to be together, to be recognised and to spend a day chatting with colleagues and peers. It’s fantastic."
