BBC Worldwide has named Vivid Toy Group the master toys and games licensee for Walking with Dinosaurs 3D.

The movie - which hits cinemas in 2013 - is the latest in BBC's long-running animated prehistoric documentaries.

Vivid will release a range of collectable toys, games and puzzles to coincide with the film's launch.

The film will be distributed by 20th Century Fox in the US and most international territories.

“We are thrilled to be working with BBC Earth Films, 20th Century Fox and Reliance Entertainment on this global opportunity,” said Vivid CEO Paul Weston.

“The Walking with Dinosaurs brand is so well known and loved across the globe and we see a massive opportunity in the toy space over the coming years to establish a perennial collectable franchise.”

Carla Peyton, SVP for licence consumer products at BBC Worldwide added: “Walking with Dinosaurs has been and continues to be an incredible brand for BBC Worldwide and Vivid is a perfect partner for the franchise, as we build up to the feature film release with Fox.”

2007's Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular has generated over $250m in box office revenue, and over 6.5 million tickets have been sold.

It is now setting off on a new European Tour in 2012 -2013.

Vivid saw sales rise 30 per cent in the past 12 months.
