VIDEO: Matchbox turns 60 with new TV ad

Car toy brand has a "phenomenal" start to the year with double-digit growth.

Mattel's Matchbox brand is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a new TV advertisement.

Matchbox has also launched an iconic, collectable 24 die-cast car collection to commemorate the brand’s milestone, each of which comes with a matchbox-sized box.

The collection has also made the shortlist of the Junior Award’s Best Classic Toy category.

Matchbox says its had a "phenomenal" start to the year, with double-digit growth. It says the new TV ad will "provide boys with a platform to create heroic adventures".

UK Director of Customer Marketing and Brand Communications, Wendy Hill, commented: “Matchbox has had a great start to 2013 and in this landmark year; we are not only celebrating the brand’s heritage and nostalgia, but are also re-engaging boys with an exciting new range of cars and play-sets.”
