US: Nerf and Play-Doh become first toy brands to get Amazon Dash Buttons

Nerf and Play-Doh have become first toy brands to get Amazon Dash Buttons.

Available in the US, an Amazon Dash Button is a Wi-Fi connected device that allows consumers to reorder their favourite item with the press of a button. Once connected via an Amazon Prime account, a single press on a Dash Button automatically places an order.

“Nerf and Play-Doh are two of our most popular brands with families consuming darts and Play-Doh compound as part of their daily playtime,” said Jeff Jackson, VP of sales at Hasbro.

“We don’t want the fun to stop when supplies run low and teaming up with Amazon allows our consumers to keep playtime going while incorporating our brands more seamlessly into their everyday activities.”

By pressing the Amazon Dash Button for Play-Doh, customers can order a Mega Pack, a 24-Pack of Colors, or a Fun Tub while with the Amazon Dash Button for Nerf, customers can order dart refills for the Nerf N-Strike Elite, Nerf Rebelle and Nerf Rival blasters and bows.

Previous brands away from the toy space to get Dash Buttons includes Bounty, Persil and Finish, with Amazon suggesting consumers stick them to washing machines and kitchen appliances, ready to push if stocks run low (as seen in the below image). Parents will likely look to position Play-Doh and Nerf Dash Buttons high out of reach of tiny trigger-happy fingers.
