Moose Toys is confident of securing the top spot of this year’s Christmas toy list, following the ‘incredible early demand’ for its new Snuggles, My Dream Puppy.

The company behind Shopkins and the number one best-selling toy last Christmas is looking for a repeat performance this year, having seen Snuggles fly off shelves across the US already.

According to the firm, major retailers have been ‘scrambling’ to secure stock of the newest addition to its Little Live Pets line of electronic pets.

“In one week alone, a major retailer sold through 75 per cent of its Snuggle stock, selling the same amount of units in just one week than last year’s top electronic pet toy sold during the entire month of September,” read a statement from the firm.

Richard Barry, executive vice president, global chief merchandising officer, Toys R Us, said: “Since the launch of Snuggles, we have seen incredible customer demand, as the item was among our hottest selling toys in September.

“Based on the success we’re seeing with Snuggles at Toys R Us and our commitment to have this in-demand item in stock for our customers whenever and however they choose to shop with us, we’re airfreighting additional inventory to arrive just in time for the holidays.”

According to the NPD Group, Snuggles has helped push Moose Toys’ Little Live Pets range to the number one best-selling electronic toy property in the US toy market.
