The National Rifle Association has removed a blog post on why kids should use their old board games as target practice following a complaint from Hasbro.

The post mentioned Hasbro's Candy Land and featured an NRA take on the game called Target Land, that kids could print off and use as target practice.

“Board games are a great way to bond with friends and family,” stated the NRA Blog.

“But have these timeless games you’ve grown up with, played time and time again, become a little, well, boring? Put a twist on your favourite games and head to the range."

In response, Julie Duffy, senior vice president, global communications for Hasbro, told NY Daily News: "We take the protection of all of our intellectual property very seriously and in this case Hasbro brands are being used without our permission.

"We have issued a cease and desist letter requesting that they immediately remove our copyrighted material from their web site."

The blog post has now been taken down.
