US: Hasbro chief voted best CEO

Hasbro's Brian Goldner has been voted Marketwatch's CEO of the year.
Publish date:

Goldner took over in May from outgoing CEO Al Verrecchia and was Hasbro’s chief operating officer since 2006, and before that, president of its US toy segment.

He has lead the firm’s expansion into the television, movie and electronic gaming markets. It was back in 2003 that he made the first overtures to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura about what eventually would become the blockbuster G.I. Joe movie. He even served as executive producer on the G.I. Joe and Transformers TV shows and feature films, plus two related documentaries.

Goldner also led negotiations with Electronic Arts, which has just unveiled games, for Nintendo's popular Wii systems, based on Hasbro’s Monopoly and Nerf brands.

New COO for Hasbro

Hasbro has appointed David Hargreaves as chief operating officer to replace Brian Goldner, who has stepped up CEO.
