Twitter is trialing a new ‘buy now’ button that will allow users to purchase products directly from a tweet.
The test is currently being offered to a small number of users in the US and will be rolled out further over time.
Test partners already involved in the new online initiative include Burberry and The Home Depot.
Tweets featuring ‘buy now’ function will provide shoppers who tap the button with further product details before being asked to enter payment information, reports Retail Week.
The products will then be sent to the retailer for delivery.
The stored information will then enable users to make repeat purchases without re-entering details each time.
The ‘buy now’ button trial is not the social network’s first foray in to ecommerce however. Twitter has previously partnered with Amazon in a tie-up allowing users to purchase products off the retailer by using the hashtag #AmazonCart.
Twitter’s ‘buy now’ button will be available on the Android and iOS Twitter app.
