The train seen at the end Back to the Future Part III may soon be heading to the shelves in LEGO form thanks to a recent LEGO Cuusoo project.

The time travelling steam train set can be used as part of the LEGO Trains Rail system and, just like the one in film, features optional wings for a 'flight' mode.

The project has close to 8,000 supporters and needs to reach the 10,000 mark to make it to the Review stage.

"Congratulations on reaching the halfway point with this great project. In the words of Doc Brown, "you can't keep a good scientist down" and the same is true for a good LEGO builder," read a statement from the LEGO Cuusoo team.

"You and Team BTTF have designed a great model with high building and play value that really captures the essence of the Jules Verne train from Back to the Future. It's filled with fantastic details and personality."

A Back to the Future LEGO set has already enjoyed success on LEGO Cuusoo, and last year the LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine landed on shelves thanks to ‘its broad worldwide appeal’ and that it ‘lends itself to challenging and creative building for both children and adults’.
