Toy sales strong in WWE Q1 results

Strength of Mattel's toy line is highlighted by rise in toy sales for the period.

WWE has reported results for the first quarter ending March 31st 2011.

Sales for the quarter were $119.9 million, falling from $138.7 million in Q1 2010. Operating income was $13.2 million, compared to $37.3 million the year before.

Licensing revenues were up to $23.9 million, compared to $19.9 million in the prior year quarter. The rise was largely due to higher royalties earned by toys and video games.

Sales related to toys increased by approximately $3.0 million, while revenues from video games were up by $2.2 million.
