The LEGO Movie and Transformers: Age of Extinction have proved to be two of the highest grossing films of 2014, both globally and in the UK.

The LEGO Movie was the biggest film at the UK box office in 2014, grossing £34.27m and narrowly beating The Inbetweeners 2 to the number one spot.

Elsewhere, at the global box office, Transformers: Age of Extinction proved to be the highest grossing film of 2014 with a mammoth $1,087,404,499.

It made over $301m in China, becoming the highest grossing film in the country's history.

There are no toy-based movies scheduled for release this year, but retailers will be hoping for a good 2015 thanks to product lines based on the likes of Shaun the Sheep: The Movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World, Inside Out, Minions and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
