With the hotly tipped film hitting cinemas in the UK today (Friday June 14th), a raft of toy companies are also hoping for strong sales of licensed lines for Man of Steel.

Global master toy licensee Mattel leads the category with a collection including action figures, vehicles, play-sets and collectable figures. Also supporting Man of Steel are global licensees including LEGO - which has construction sets based on memorable scenes from the film - and Rubie's, with a new line of Man of Steel-inspired costumes and accessories.

Additional toy, games and collectables partners include Thinkway Toys (role-play and interactive figures), Jakks Pacific (31-inch collectable Superman figure), Sambro (puzzles and bikes) and The Noble Collection (authentic movie prop replicas, launched under the Sideshow Collectibles banner).

In addition, Jumbo is launching a 252-XXL piece puzzle (£7.99), which features an image inspired by the movie.

"Man of Steel is an action packed epic worthy of one of the world's most iconic super heroes," said Paul Bufton, general manager at Warner Bros. Consumer Products UK. "Widely tipped to be the blockbuster of the summer, the movie will serve to further enhance the popularity of Superman consumer products and the extraordinary power of the franchise."
