Hornby's Scalextric Demolition Derby, which adds 'build, race and destroy' game play to the classic slot racing toy, has topped Toy Fair's inaugural Editors Choice Awards.
More than 300 broadcast, national, consumer and trade journalists highlighted their favourite toys from the show and out of the thousands of fantastic new toys on display they chose their top three:
Scalextric Demolition Derby, Hornby Hobbies
"Cars speed along a sweeping circuit over 5.3 metre long, round the chicane and 90 degree crossover for full-on racing impact."
Legends of Chima: The Lion CHI Temple, LEGO
"An epic battle for the CHI has begun at the majestic Lion CHI Temple complete with character mini figures and detailed accessories and features."
HolograFX, John Adams
"Like nothing seen before, the HolograFX comes with a smartphone app, staging areas and built-in holographic characters that allow users to record themselves and their friends and then zap them on stage as a holograph with sound."
“We’d like to say a big thank you to all of the journalists who attended Toy Fair and who took the time to vote in our first Editors’ Choice awards,” said Majen Immink, senior communications manager at the BTHA.
“Whittling the thousands of amazing toy launches in the hall to a top three is a challenging task to say the least. The toys they have chosen are a great representation of the mix of traditional and hi-tech toys to be found at Toy Fair, and the innovation that floods through the industry year after year to keep toys new and exciting.”
