Toy Fair 2019: Suppliers hail show "amazing success"

Exhibitors excited for the year ahead following the sweeping success of this week's show.

The industry has hailed this year’s London Toy Fair a ‘resounding success’ as the three day show once again witnesses new launches across collectables, STEM toys and major new licences.

Exhibitors appear to be unanimous in their ongoing support for the show that took place at London’s Olympia this week, with excitement already building for its return in 2020.

“Our first day at Toy Fair was madness,” said Debra Tiffany of Brainstorm Limited. “There were so many appointments booked in and we were delighted with the response to our new products, particularly EUGY and the new Brainstorm toys.

“All in all, another great show for us at Olympia and we look forward to coming back again in 2020.”

The BTHA has announced that Toy Fair 2020 will return to London Olympia running from Tuesday, January 21st to 23rd with applications now open.

For some, the success of this year’s show has encouraged a positive outlook for what 2019 has in store.

“Toy Fair has once again been a fantastic experience for us,” said Roger Martin, Coiledspring Games. “It is such an important event in the calendar, not only allowing us the opportunity to catch up with colleagues and clients in the industry, but also provides an opportunity to catch up with old faces, but meet new ones.

“After such a positive start to the year, we are looking forward to what 2019 brings.”

The STEM toy sector appeared to enjoy an injection of innovation with new launches from firms across the board, including from the likes of Bandai and Green Board Games.

Karen Nunn of Green Board Games, added: “We have had an incredible show, not least with the announcement of the winning Young Games Inventor 2018. This year our portfolio is strengthened further by a variety of STEM inspired games and we are proud to be supporting Dyslexia Action and Anna Kennedy charities as part of our initiatives - all of which have been welcomed by retailers existing and new.”

This week’s show marked the 66th London Toy Fair, hosted by the BTHA. The BTHA’s Matt Jones told ToyNews that reception to the show had once again been “brilliantly positive” with outlook for the year ahead “extremely encouraging.”

The video, produced annually by the BTHA, provides information and advice on all the PR opportunities offered to exhibitors at Toy fair. It also features the now famous Q&A interviews, where the UK’s newspapers, broadcasters and blogs reveal their top tips and expectations for Toy Fair 2019.


Toy Fair 2017 sold out

The success of the sales has been fuelled by the show’s return to its Tuesday to Thursday format, helping it sell out a full four months ahead of the show next year.
