Winners of the Toy Industry Awards 2010 collected their accolades at the annual event in Banqueting House, London last night. The full list of winners can be found below.

The biggest success stories of the evening came from Smyths, named Multiple Toy Retailer of the Year and Overall Toy Retailer of the Year; Argos, which took Online Toy Retailer of the Year and Toy Catalogue of the Year; and Disney, which took the Retail Week Award for Best Store Design (for The Disney Store) and Toy Licence (for Toy Story 3).

Mattel, notably, was also awarded Toy of the Year for Jet Pack Buzz Lightyear.

The event was organised by the British Toy and Hobby Association along with the Toy Retailers Association, and held on the first evening of the ongoing 58th Toy Fair, which finishes this Thursday (January 27th).

BTHA chairman Christine Nicholls and TRA chairman Alan Simpson announced the winners, while three Special Recognition Awards were presented to Ravensburger and Orchard Toys’ James Galt and the Personality of the Year Award was handed to Flair CEO Peter Brown.

“Congratulations on behalf of the BTHA to all the winners of this year’s Toy Retailer Awards,” Nicholls said.

“It is a pleasure to see such a high standard of entry. Recognition must also go to our worthy runners-up and a big thank you to everyone for taking part.”

Simpson was also keen to compliment the event’s winners.

“There were many toys which could have featured in this year’s awards and it was an extremely difficult job to narrow the list down,” he said.

“On behalf of the TRA, I would like to congratulate all our winners and we look forward in 2011 to another year of innovation.”
