The LEGO Movie tops US box office

Marks the second biggest opening of all time for the month of February in the US.

Warner Bros’ The LEGO Movie has stormed to the top of the US box office in its first weekend on release.

The LEGO Movie made an estimated $69.1m, while its closest competition, George Clooney's The Monuments Men, charted in second place with $22.7m.

This debut also marks the second biggest opening of all time for the month of February in the US, beaten only by The Passion of the Christ's $83.8m debut in February 2004.
