Stephen Fry has inspected Wow Stuff's Real FX at a launch event held at the Founders Forum, and the QI presenter deemed the AI-infused twist on slot car racing as "smarter-extric".

Wow! Stuff has attempted to re-design the slot car category using artificial intelligence and according to the firm, Real FX is more akin to the best of slots, R/C and video games.

Argos has already listed the product, hitting shelves via the exclusive distributor Vivid Toy Group, as one of its predictions for the best selling toys for Christmas.

“The Founders Forum was buzzing and we chose the venue to unveil Real FX to a bunch of what must rate as the biggest group of discerning tech leaders under one roof anywhere on the planet at one time," said Richard North, founder and president, Wow! Stuff and Wow! Labs.

"Stephen Fry paid a ‘virtual’ visit via the internet to inspect the various new tech products at the event. He loved Real FX and coined it "smarter-extric" in homage to the Scalextric slot car brand we all loved as kids.

"In parallel, we took the step to launch on Kickstarter and then Vivid called to discuss distribution opportunities. They shared our passion for Real FX and the direction we could take AI and it has snowballed since then.

"The new stuff that’s coming out over the next two years is just mind blowing and showcases what tech can do in the toy industry."
