A Star Wars Boba Fett action figure toy has sold for £18,000 at auction.

The action figure is believed to have sold for the highest price of any Star Wars figure to have gone under the hammer.

Put up for auction by Craig Stevens, a former chair of the UK Star Wars Fan Club and avid collector of Star Wars memorabilia.

The toy – sold in its original packaging and costing only £1.50 when it was originally released – went to an unnamed online bidder through Vectis Auctions.

The winning bid for the toy was £15,000, however after 20 per cent commission, the total sum of the purchase will be £18,000.

Stevens has revealed that he still has 10,000 items in his collection of Star Wars memorabilia.

Valuer, Kathy Taylor, told The Guardian that the figures came from the ‘golden age’ of Star Wars films.

“We have never had a collection like this,” she said.

“We do get a lot of toys here which make big money but this is the first Star Wars collection that we have ever had that is of this calibre.”
