Spin Master has revealed that its Air Hogs Connect: Mission Drone was awarded Best Game or Toy at the 7th annual Auggie Awards at Augmented World Expo 2016.

The drone, which is set to launch in North America this autumn, was selected through a combination of public voting and a panel of judges during the event.

Air Hogs Connect: Mission Drone is the first experience to be introduced in Spin Master's AR Gaming platform, and was recognised as a connected toy or gaming solution that enables players to interact between physical and virtual worlds.

"With the Air Hogs Connect platform, we've blended the worlds of RC and AR, creating an immersive experience where players can now command actual vehicles inside incredible virtual game worlds," said Nick Beliaeff, VP of production at Spin Master.

"This takes gaming and drone flight to the next level; we're excited to bring Air Hogs Connect: Mission Drone to consumers later this year, and we appreciate this recognition from the Auggie Awards."
