Hasbro has announced that Sony Pictures Animation has signed up to make three feature length films based on its toy and game properties.

The Tonka and Candy Land projects will be made by Adam Sandler’s production company Happy Madison.

“In its 65 years, Tonka has become more than a toy or a brand. Tonka trucks are a rite of passage for kids all around the world,” said Bob Osher, president of Sony Pictures Digital Productions.

“Time spent with these toys creates memories that last a lifetime as kids are inspired to play using the boundaries of their imagination. We look forward to creating a family friendly motion picture that brings the Tonka experience to life.”

The deal sees Hasbro make another significant stride into the movie business, with big screen adaptations of Stretch Armstrong and Ouija Board set to join Transformers, Battleship and GI Joe.

Hasbro also has also confirmed Transformers 4 and 5.
