Scrabble Championship final kicks off on Sunday

Two word experts go head-to-head for the £2,500 cash prize.

The 2012 National Scrabble Championship final will take place on Sunday, November 4th.

26-year-old Paul Gallen from Belfast, the fifth ranked player in the world, will take on 43-year-old Olawale Fashina, the 2005 UK National Champion and Nigerian Champion in 1998 and 2002. 

Both will play for a £2,500 cash prize.

The event is open to the public and can be viewed live at, by searching for National Scrabble Championship 2012 on the site.

2000 champion Brett Smitheram will comment on the moves as they are made during the final. 

Six regional events in the UK and a 60-player semi-final event have already occured.
