The deal, arranged by Hornby licensing agent, Rocket licensing, will allow players to customise the track, personalise their car and terrorise the opposition as they speed through 3D worlds.

The Scalextric track creator allows you to build a circuit by choosing from a selection of Scalextric track pieces and assembling new circuits.

Players can race against an opponent or simply beat their personal best on a time trial. The app, which costs 59p on the iTunes App store, lets you play on pre-loaded tracks or with new track designs.

The range of Scalextric car models can also be customised with a range of designs and colours. Designs can be shared and raced on other gamers’ tracks by entering the worldwide community that is the Apple Game Centre.

Scalextric also takes advantage of The Apple Game Centre, giving players instant access to a global community of mobile gamers. A player can take advantage of this by sharing designs and tracks, but can also invite friends to a game and battle and with additional add-on tracks available to purchase the racing possibilities are endless.

The game also takes advantage of Retina Display to give state of the art crisp graphics.

Paul Chandler, Scalextric marketing manager, said: “Scalextric is very excited to be releasing its first official iPhone/iPad application. This game takes all of the unique attributes of Scalextric slot racing; and delivers the experience in stunning 3D graphics.

"We are very proud to be one of the first racing games to take advantage of The Apple Game Centre and give the global Scalextric community a racing opportunity they have never had before.”
