If you thought completing a Rubik’s Cube with your hands was difficult enough, then you probably weren’t at the Rubik’s UK Championships this weekend.
On Sunday, November 2nd, 100 competitors from across 13 countries came together to compete in a variety of cubing challenges, most notably the fast feet category.
Held at the University of Leicester, the Championships fascinated spectators with the first ever UK 3x3 with feet competition, a challenge won by 21-year-old Robert Yau from Guilford who completed the puzzle in one minute 3.77 seconds.
The current UK record holder and European Champion, 16 year old Alexander Lau won the overall 3x3 competition, finishing the cube in a staggering 9.02 seconds and earning him the crown of Rubik’s UK Champion 2014.
Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Rubik’s Cube, event organisers John Adams Leisure Ltd brought out a Rubik’s Cube cake to commemorate the occasion.
Thankfully, guests and competitors kept their feet well away from the centrepiece.
