LEGO Dimensions already boasted an impressive array of tie-in franchises at announce; The Lego Movie, Batman, The Lord of the Rings, Oz and Back to the Future.

This week though, LEGO published a set of instructions on how to assemble the expansion packs, these showed a broader range of franchises for the first time.

While Portal 2, Scooby-Doo, The Simpsons and Jurassic World were already popular rumours gleaned from box images and retail packaging, Doctor Who had seemed like more of a long shot.

The build instructions confirm all five of these additional franchises for the game along with a host of characters, vehicles and gadgets.

Doctor Who in the game is big news. It's the first instance of a Doctor Who LEGO minifigure, after the Beeb granted permission for the development after the huge popularity of the idea on the crowd-sourced LEGO Ideas platform.

These will not only make excellent toys on the living room floor but on screen opens up mind-bending game-play options.

The Portal Gun enables players to create magic doors to transport themselves from one flat surface to another. Combine this with the ability to travel in time with the Tardis and the puzzle possibilities are almost endless.

With Disney Infinity 3.0 leveraging Star Wars hard this year, Amiibo selling extremely well and a Skylanders announcement expected soon, it is tough to call who will be the winner of the Toys to Life category come the holidays.
