Hornby welcomed a surprise guest to its head offices in Margate yesterday (Monday, 24th June) as an original Gulf Aston Martin pulled up before its gates.

The £100,000 car owned by David O'Connell is similar to the one that Airfix modelled three of its products on.

O'Connell was on his way back from LeMans when he decided to visit the Margate offices.

He now plans to sell the car.

Airfix has used the cars' livery on three of its products including the Airfix Aston Martin Gift Set, that retails at a mere fraction of O'Connell's model, at £16.99.

Darrell Burge, marketing manager at Airfix, said: "It was fantastic to meet David and to see our model next to his car.

"These Airfix products are great sellers with fans of the brand appreciating the livery detail."
