Spielwarenmesse 2018 has set new records having signed a staggering 2,902 exhibitors from across the world.
The latest update on the numbers has cemented the Nuremberg toy fair as the largest and most prolific industry event of the year. The proportion of exhibitors from abroad now totals 75.1 per cent, an increase from 74 per cent in 2017.
This year, Spielwarenmesse boasts a total of 16 national pavilions, with Georgia, Russia and Spain appearing for the first time. The Best of China stand remains the biggest national pavilion at the fair and is located in Hall 11.
Meanwhile, the Trend Gallery fills a space of around 1000 square meters and is geared towards visitors with a thirst for innovation as well as the winners and nominees of the ToyAwards.
The ToyAwards 2018 have attracted more interest than ever before with 643 entries from 397 companies. The winners will be announced during the opening ceremony of the Spielwarenmesse on January 30.
This year’s show has also been highlighted as a hub of licensing activity as it builds on its long-term relationship with LIMA with the License Preview and a plethora of major studios such as Paramount Pictures, Fox Consumer Products and NBC Universal.
‘Only in Nuremberg do retailers and buyers from all over the world experience the full diversity of this industry,’ read a statement from the show’s organisers.
‘In 2018, they will once again have the opportunity to complement their ranges with innovative products, to refresh their industry knowledge and to gain new ideas and impetus for the every day running of their business.’
