Spin Master has announced the opening of a new office in Mexico and the appointment of lead the company’s expansion in this rapidly growing market.
Spin Master Mexico is expected to be operational during the first half of 2009. Spin Master Mexico will launch its hit brand Bakugan Battle Brawlers later in the year and will establish direct distribution of its popular brands Air Hogs, Aquadoodle Tech Deck and Moon Sand. The Bakugan Battle Brawlers television show will be aired on Televisa.
Anton Rabie, co-CEO of Spin Master said: “Continuing to expand globally to build our reach and strengthen our brands is a significant part of Spin Master’s growth strategy.
“Mexico is a tremendous market to help us achieve these goals and will also play an important role in expanding our business through third party distribution opportunities.”
Yepez has been hired as president and general manager for the new operation. He joins from a role as president of toys with Mega Brands.
Gerardo will re-locate to his native Mexico where he made his mark in the toy industry after founding Mercasistemas, a toy distribution company which later became Mega Bloks LatinoAmerica.
Gerardo has also previously owned and operated a sporting goods manufacturing and distribution company where he introduced Wilson Sporting Goods to the Mexican market.
