While the toy market value was up for the first two quarters, the NPD figures, exclusive to ToyNews, showed that unit sales fell by ten per cent.

The fall in unit sales was due largely to a peak in high volume, low price World Cup related stickers and cards sold in 2010. This also impacted the average selling price, which increased from £5.12 YTD June 2010, to £5.96 YTD June 2011.

Star Wars took the top spot in the properties chart and good weather early on in the year helped Intex' Easy Set pools earn the best property progression title for the month of June.

Transformers 3 Plus Assortment was the best item progression for June on the back of the hype for the new film.
