Launched on May 24th 2010, the HSBC Business Thinking awards is a new initiative from the bank to help support and fund the UK's most innovative and forward-thinking companies.
Businesses with turnovers in excess of £2 million were asked to put forward their company vision and ambitions, as well as how they intend to achieve them using the prize money.
It was Wow Stuff founder and CEO Richard North’s inspiring vision for capturing the international toy market that impressed HSBC’s judges.
Two finalists from each region were selected by HSBC - each receiving up to £5 million in lending and a prize of up to £100,000.
As well as the money, all finalists travelled with HSBC to Turkey, China or Mexico on one of its 'Thought Exchange' trips - experiencing the local business culture, economy and the opportunities it can offer.
The regional finalists now go on to vie for the title of overall winner of Business Thinking 2010 at the International Insights event in Hong Kong at the end of the year.
North commented: "The publicity you inevitably get when you win such a prestigious award acknowledges the hard work of the team. This is a real testament of the passion, creativity and fun the people create in our business.
"Business Thinking will also put us on the radar of the larger retailers, opening doors because it's a stamp of approval that says we're going places."
