15-year-old Alexandar Yau became the new UK Rubik’s Cube champion this weekend, beating off tough competition to record an average time of 9.24 seconds at Leciester University.
Over 100 human competitors from nine countries attended the event.
Rubik’s Cube solving robot the Cubestormer II was also in attendance and completed the 3x3x3 cube in around five seconds. The Multicuber and MindCuber robots were also at the event.
UK student Simon Crawford won the 3x3x3 one handed competition with a time of 16.06.
The event had widespread support from the media, with coverage appearing on ITV, local press and online.
