LEGO is further bolstering its best selling Friends range with the introduction of a new product series, focusing on after-school activities and hobbies.

From this month, 14 new products will join the existing LEGO Friends range of 23 sets.

Watersport enthusiasts can create a splash with the Heartlake City Pool and Water Scooter Fun, while there is the Heartlake Pet Salon and Olivia's Newborn Foal (pictured) for animal lovers. For those looking to flex their muscles and blow off some after-school steam, there is Stephanie's Soccer Practice and Emma's Karate Class.

There is also a new miniature pet-themed series including Turtle's Little Oasis, Cat's Playground and Squirrel's Tree House this month, followed by Hedgehog's Hideaway, Poodle's Little Palace and Bunny's Hutch in March. They will all be priced at £2.99 each.

"Since launching in December 2011, LEGO Friends has been hugely successful and we're extremely happy with how well the range has been received," said Kathryn Marriott, brand manager for LEGO Friends. "With the latest launch of products focusing on girls' everyday leisure activities, we hope to provide a cross-section of building experiences that will appeal to a wider audience.

"The new animal-based concept will strengthen recruitment and drive collectability through impulse purchases, thus continuing to build the girls construction market."
