New interactive trading card tech for Gormiti

Award-winning Touchcode technology brings Giochi Preziosi's popular characters to life.
Publish date:

Italian toy distributor Giochi Preziosi Group has announced its new type of digital and interactive trading card that uses Touchcode technology.

Partnering with Printechnologics, the company will create an application for one of its most popular toy properties, Gormiti.

Using the award winning Touchcode technology, when a card is placed on a smartphone or a tablet, an invisible data code will allow gamers to bring characters to life and access specially created content.

Dario Berté, CEO of Giochi Preziosi Group, said: "We chose Touchcode because we are impressed with the seamless connection Touchcode makes between paper and digital content.

"We are now able to enhance traditional games by adding digital features, pushing our products to the next level."

Developed by German-based Printechnologics and comparable to a key, Touchcode technology unlocks correlating content by referring to a website or application directly after it is placed on the display of a multi-touch screen device.

There is no need for a camera, a Near Field Communication (NFC) device or hardware modifications.

Sasha Voigt, CEO of Printechnologics, said: "We are proud of Giochi Preziosi's decision to integrate out Touchcode technology into their wide portfolio of well-known toys and brands.

"It is in line with our vision to further the evolution of paper products and drives us to continue working on ground-breaking technologies."
