Monopoly goes global
The firm will unveil the final game board in August and expects it to be available in autumn.
There are 22 spots up for grabs. Voters can either select from the 68 nominated cities, which include London, Edinburgh and Cardiff, or nominate another city through a wild card vote.
Cities will be ranked from the highest rental property to the lowest according to the number of votes they receive, with two spaces left for the wild card cities.
The railroad spaces will be changed to represent four types of transportation – land, sea, air and space. The Community Chest and Chance cards will also be updated.
Helen Martin, global brand director for Monopoly said: “Monopoly is the world’s most popular board game and it transcends cultural barriers. More than 750 million people have played the game since it was first introduced nearly 75 years ago and its popularity shows no signs of slowing down.
“We need to get the people of the UK voting for our capital cities - could you imagine a world Monopoly board without London or Edinburgh on it? We need to make sure we’re represented,” Martin said.
Voting runs until February 28th. To participate, simply click here.
