The Arnotts Department Store in Dublin is getting set for Christmas this year, with the help of Monchhichi dolls.

The dolls have taken pride of place in the store’s window display, greeting visitors who stop by.

The idea for the Monchhichi themed display was developed after a meeting with toy vendor Bandai and retailer ToyTown, earlier this year.

Sarah Williams, head of PR and communications at Arnotts, said: “As soon as the Monchhichis arrived in our office we all just fell in love.

“We have gifted journalists, run in-store treasure hunts and photographed Monchhichi enjoying the delights of different departments, so we’ve had plenty of fun with our new friends. They are certainly proving to be very popular with our customers this Christmas.”

Vicki Elmer, product manager at Bandai, added: “It’s been so rewarding working with Arnotts and ToyTown on the Monchhichi window, and we would like to thank them for bringing Monchhichi to life in such a spectacular way this Christmas.

“On a recent visit to Dublin we enjoyed watching the reaction as people walked past and stopped to take photos. The wonderful window has certainly captured the imagination and got everyone talking.

“Monchhichi sales are also incredibly good so it’s had the desired effect of driving people to ToyTown on the second floor."
