Mega Brands have partnered with augmented reality software company Blippar, to bring the new Call of Duty Collector Construction Sets to life in the 2013 Argos Christmas Gift Guide.
Blippar’s technology converts static catalogue material into an interactive experience for shoppers, and this technology has been used to give consumers a closer look at the new Call of Duty range.
Using Blippar technology, the Call of Duty Construction Chopper Strike Helicopter will now take off from the pages of the Argos Christmas Gift Guide, as shoppers will be able to scan the product page with their smartphone, tablet or iPad and load the Chopper Strike for an interactive 360 degree product preview.
“Call of Duty is a cultural phenomenon with a loyal and ever increasing fan base, so it made perfect sense to create this for the fans," said Daniel Davis, Mega Brands digital european marketing manager.
"We believe this partnership will drive sales and set a new standard for interactive shopping experiences in the adult collectibles market.”
Shoppers can download the Blippar App from the App Store, iTunes or Google Play.
“We’re really excited about making Christmas wish list creation a digital experience. Children used to circle what they wanted for Christmas in our Gift Guide – now they can also watch videos, play games and enter competitions," said Bertrand Bodson, digital director at Argos.
"We’ve seen over 300,000 blips using the Gift Guide already, with people blipping an average of 10 times.
“Blippar enables us to build a bridge between our traditional physical publication and the digital world by ‘springboarding’ users from the Gift Guide to argos.co.uk, where they can find even more choice and Check & Reserve and transact.
"This really does add a whole new dimension to Christmas shopping.”
