Mattel has unveiled the first in its new line of much talked about action figures based on DC SuperHero Girls.
Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl and Harley Quinn all star in the new range of six figures that was revealed for the first time at New York Comic Con alongside the premiere of the new animated series.
The new range has been designed to create a level playing filed for female characters in the action figure world, toning down the sexualisation and focus more of the casts’ athleticism.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Mattel toy designer, Christine Kim explained that the idea behind the design was to make the characters look like ‘they can save the day, instead of being saved.’
“We wanted to have this very strong, toned body, but keeping in mind that they are still in high school,” she said.
Inspired by the powerful students of DC Super Hero High, the 12-inch DC Super Hero Girls Action Figures arrive with a host of accessories, showcasing each one’s unique abilities.
