Barbie has made her first foray into STEM learning with the launch of a new line Barbie themed science kits from Thames and Kosmos.

Developed in partnership with Mattel, the new kit features plastic building pieces and science materials along with a Barbie doll, encouraging kids to explore the worlds of biology, chemistry, physics and engineering.

All of the models and accessories included in the new STEM set are compatible with the Barbie Dream House while children can get hands on creating a spinning clothes rack, washing machine and a greenhouse.

They can then conduct a range of physics experiments to learn how and why the designs work, as well as creating three different optical illusion dresses, a leaf print dress and a chromatography dress for Barbie to wear.

The set comes with 122 plastic building pieces, a 32 page illustrated book and more.

“We are thrilled to have partnered up with Mattel to create the Barbie STEM kit,” said Jo Drage, sales director at Thames and Kosmos.

“It’s added a twist that reinvents her in a more educational way. Teaming up Barbie and STEM is perfect to get kids eager to learn, while still having fun.”

The new kit from Thames and Kosmos can be pre-ordered now and will be available in the Autumn.
