Mattel sets Times Scrabble poser

Readers of The Times this weekend may have been surprised by a full page cryptic Scrabble advertisement.

The tongue in cheek advert, running The Times' Saturday edition, featured a Scrabble board set up with tiles which had no letters on, capitalising on the media noise surrounding the Royal Mail postage strike and played perfectly on the ultimate game of wits and words' unique sense of humour.

This activity marked the first national print advertising for Scrabble in a number of years and joins other breakframe marketing activity for the brand which includes the first non-food TV sponsorship on the Good Food channel, all contributing to keeping the word game in the number one spot for Family Games.
