Mattel has launched a new Mariachi Barbie.

The new doll – dressed in the traditional mariachi attire – will be making its debut on September 16th, Mexican Independence Day.

The launch also coincides with National Hispanic Month, which runs until October 15th.

The second Mexican Barbie to be launched by the toy firm, the latest release features a black bolero jacket and cropped trousers as well as a wide brimmed sombrero.

Part of the Barbie Dolls of the World collection, the Mexican Barbie joins a range of dolls aimed at helping youngsters ‘explore the world and learn about different cultures through play.’

Spokesperson for Mattel told Fox News Latino: “The Barbie brand understands the significance of introducing new cultures to girls in a relatable way.

“The Dolls of the World collection features the native fashions, while celebrating the cultures and diversity represented within each country in a way that will appeal to Barbie fans of all ages.”
