The move follows a backlash against the theme park over the treatment of its orcas.

Mattel has dropped its SeaWorld Barbie line following criticism against the theme park over the treatment of its orcas.

“We’re not making the dolls anymore,” a Mattel spokesman told the New York Post.

Mattel claimed it is ceasing production partially over concerns from environmentalists, including the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

The government had investigated SeaWorld after a trainer drowned while working with an orca and the 2013 documentary Blackfish saw a broader audience begin to question the company’s treatment of its animals.
