Mattel brings Octonauts toy launch forward

Unprecedented demand makes launch date of the new Fisher-Price toys earlier than planned.

Mattel says that parents and children have been 'so desperate to get their hands on the new Octonauts collection', that the firm has pulled out all the stops to bring them to shops sooner than planned.

Over the last eight months, parents have been trying to track down toys and many have taken to making their own toys at home with cardboard and sticky tape, sharing tips on YouTube and Facebook.

Fisher-Price marketing manager, Wendy Hill, commented: "Consumer demand for this toy collection is like nothing we’ve seen before. We’ve been getting calls from parents on a daily basis desperate to hear when the toys will hit the shelves. Finally we can say – the toys are out."

According to Medimetire/ BARB (Period: 01/01/2011- 31/03/2011), Octonauts is the number one animated series for children aged four to six on CBeebies and is number two for kids aged four to six across all channels.

The new collection will include an Octopod Play-set, vehicles and figures. The range will be priced between £5-£35 and is available now from retailers across the country.
