In its partnership with Mattel, Universal Pictures has dated its live-action Monster High movie for October 7th, 2016.
The adaptation of the Monster High doll franchise will follow the story of a group of teens discovering their real identities while working out what to do with their secret ones.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are both writing the script and producing the movie.
The movie follows the announcement of a number of toy inspired movies, including live action Barbie, Max Steel and LEGO Movie spin-offs.
Tom Linay, head of film at Digital Cinema Media, a cinema advertising agency, said: “The Lego Movie showed just what is possible when both talented filmmakers and toymakers join forces.
“It honed in on what makes Lego such a special brand and the resultant critical and commercial smash has blazed a trail for other toy brands to make a move on to the big screen, with Monster High one of the first to make the leap.
“If they can replicate even half the success of The Lego Movie it will be a great move for all involved.”
