Mattel acquired Sekkoia SAS, owner of the Blokus board game franchise, and purchased the rights to the Whac-A-Mole game from owner Bob's Space Racers.

"We are thrilled to add both Blokus and Whac-A-Mole to Mattel's growing portfolio of fun and affordable family-oriented games," said Tim Kilpin, Mattel’s GM/senior vice president for Boys, Girls & Games, Mattel Brands.

"The addition of these fantastic brands reinforces Mattel's commitment to offering games that are both engaging and entertaining for people of all ages."

The acquisition of Whac-A-Mole from Bob's Space Racers includes the current Whac-A-Mole Arcade Table Game, most recently marketed by Hasbro. Mattel says it plans to develop other games based on the concept in the future.
