The awards celebrate the most intelligent new children’s products and are designed to provide an informative guide for adults and children to the most fun, educational and intelligent toys on the market.
The winners were chosen by an expert panel of judges alongside a team of 25 toy testers, aged 6-14. The panel looked for innovative, good value toys with a link to science, which encourage play and socialising.
Alex Patrick, schools outreach manager at The Science Museum and member of the judging panel said:
“It is the ethos of the Science Museum to inspire children to learn about science through interaction and inspiration. MagNext and other winning toys demonstrate this above and beyond the other toys we tested.”
The winners include:
SMart Toy of the Year 2008 and SMart Build Winner: MagNext (Mega Brands)
SMart Explore Winner: Kitchen Chemistry (John Adams Trading Co. Ltd.)
SMart Play Winner: iCoaster (Mega Brands)
