The LEGO Group has seen its first half results jump 18 per cent for 2015, fuelled by the popularity of LEGO star Wars, Jurassic World and LEGO Technic.

The Danish firm has now re-established itself as the world’s leading toy manufacturer as it reports an increase in revenue of 23 per cent on the same period last year.

Turnover for the firm that boasts a burgeoning portfolio of play-sets and popular Minifigures has now surpassed $2.14 billion in the first half.

LEGO Group president and chief executive Jorgen Vig Knudstrop, said: “A strong performance across the entire product range enabled us to deliver a highly satisfactory result for the first half of 2015.

“This is especially encouraging since we compare to 2014 when The LEGO Movie products boosted our performance. While it is still early to estimate full year results, we expect another satisfactory result for the full year.”

Chief marketing officer, Julia Goldin, added: “We had more than 300 different LEGO sets on the market during the first half of 2015.

“These ranged frm the heroic Ninjas of LEGO Ninjago to the immaculately detailed LEGO Technic mobile crane to the adventurous fantasy theme LEGO Elves.

“This enables us to bring engaging products and stories into the hands of children across different ages, interests and geographies – yet all are based on the LEGO system and the endless creative potential of the LEGO brick.”
