Warner Bros. Entertainment has canned toys to life platform LEGO Dimensions one year ahead of plans, a report from Eurogamer has stated.

The report comes from anonymous sources close to the project, who have confirmed that the series will not see through its original three-year plan, citing the high cost of manufacturing the LEGO toys as the main reason the series was not generating enough profit to justify its existence.

Having originally launched in 2015 across all major gaming platforms, the game looked set to be hit, boasting marquee licenses including the likes of The Hobbit, Sonic the Hedgehog, Batman, Scooby-Doo and many more.

However, a combination of factors including poor sales and an over-abundance of new content caused the project to fall short of expectations.

Due to the game's slow performance, developer TT Games turned it's primary focus towards other projects including the LEGO Ninjago Movie game and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2.

Warner Bros. has yet to officially confirm the discontinuation of the series.
